Health Information Management Clerk
The Clerk will work under the general supervision of the Health Information Director. To collect, analyze, and release patient health information. To work closely with providers to ensure timely and accurate data by assigning deficiencies and managing the completion of records. Manages provider data and is involved in credentialing processes. Works as a liaison between HIM and Billing and helps with daily tasks to ensure timely and accurate coding/billing.
*This position will not work remotely.
Responsibilities for Health Information Management Clerk
Scan medical records from each department into patient charts
Analyze data to ensure timely, accurate, and complete patient information
Assign and manage provider deficiencies
Communicate with physicians to ensure proper diagnoses or to obtain additional information for coding procedures
Assist with credentialing processes and maintain provider data
Responsible for assisting with the release of medical information to patients, healthcare organizations, insurance companies, lawyers, state, and federal agencies
Maintains daily HIM logs pertaining to coding errors , nursing start/stop times, quality, audits, etc.
Aids with other daily HIM, Registration, and Billing duties as needed
Qualifications for Health Information Management Clerk
High school graduate or GED required.
1 year in a medical or general office experience preferred
Must be proficient with Microsoft applications
Strong interpersonal skills are necessary
Commitment to high level of accuracy and compliance
Secondary Functions: All other duties assigned by HIM Manager
