MLS/MLT (PRN AS NEEDED
The MLS/MLT will work under the general supervision of the Laboratory Director. The MLS/MLT will support laboratory based scientific investigations by carrying out routine technical tasks and experiments. Performs tests, procedures, and analyses as requested by the physician and in accordance with all regulatory regulations.
Responsibilities for MLS/MLT
Performs quality control for all procedures. Posts or verifies results on computer; takes action when indicated by the values. Immediately communicates to the physician or RN any critical or markedly unusual results.
Exhibits good working knowledge and logic in troubleshooting and repair of instruments.
Maintains the equipment and work area in a clean, orderly manner on a daily basis and documents repairs required.
Ensuring that safety guidelines are always adhered to within the laboratory.
Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments.
Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
Qualifications for MLS/MLT
Associate of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences/Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science or Eligible to perform high complexity testing as outlined in the CLIA 1988 regulations.
Current technologist’s certification with ASCP, AMT, or equivalent regulatory agency.
1-year medical laboratory experience preferred
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Secondary Functions: All other duties assigned by Lab Director
