The Physical Therapist (PT) provides services that help restore the function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease. The PT also examines patient’s medical history, evaluates their physical abilities, determines their potential to respond to therapy, and develops treatment plans.
Responsibilities for Physical Therapist
Provides direct patient care, evaluates functional needs and outcomes, and establishes plan of care. Conducts therapy practice within defined standards of care.
Evaluates effectiveness of treatment and modifies as necessary.
Assesses educational and cultural needs of the patient, family, caregiver, or significant other and communicates accordingly to achieve maximum benefit of care.
Documents evaluations, treatment goals, and plans in accordance with Hospital requirements and established guidelines.
Regularly updates documentation and prepares plans for discharge.
Coordinates and supervises staff.
Applies appropriate application of age specific standards, policies and procedures and guidelines in caring for patients.
Qualifications for Physical Therapist
Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist required.
Two years direct patient physical therapy care and treatment experience preferred.
Experience in rehabilitation hospital setting preferred.
Current Basic Life Support/CPR card preferred
Secondary Functions: All other duties assigned by Rehab Director
