Cashier

The Cashier will work under the general supervision of the Revenue Cycle Manager. This position provides guidance to staff in receiving, preparing, and posting of receipts for hospital services while ensuring the accuracy in the posting of the receipt and contractual allowance.

Responsibilities for Cashier

  • Researches and responds by telephone and/or in writing to patient inquiries regarding billing issues and problems.

  • Receives daily mail receipts that have been balanced and stamped for deposit and verifies receipt totals.

  • Properly records returned checks in the patient accounting system while initiating follow-up.

  • Maintains log of daily receipts and contractual postings.

  • Coordinates with accounting department in daily and monthly balancing of accounts receivable to the general ledger.  

  • Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.

  • Monitors submitted claims; follows up on unpaid claims, and initiates dialogue with insurance companies.

Qualifications for Cashier

  • Prior medical billing and administrative experience in a CAH preferred.

  • 3-5+ years' experience in medical billing role or related experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

  • Ability to function with team members and the ability to solve problems swiftly

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
