The Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) provides rehabilitative services to individuals with speech and language impairments, under the director of the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) The position also monitors the patient’s program and records patient’s progress for the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP).
Responsibilities for Speech Language Pathology Assistant
Assists SLP with speech, language, hearing screenings without clinical interpretation
Assists SLP during assessment when needed, exclusive of administration and/or interpretation
Carrying out documented treatment plans or protocols developed by supervising SLP
Documenting and keeping record of client performance
Documenting, communicating, and sharing information with patients, families, and other staff regarding clients as directed by SLP
Provides age – related and culturally sensitive delivery of patient care services.
Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions.
Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule.
Qualifications for Speech Language Pathology Assistant
Current state licensure as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant required.
One year of direct patient care experience in rehabilitation hospital setting preferred.
Current Basic Life Support/CPR card preferred
Secondary Functions: All other duties assigned by Rehab Director
